I’m getting ‘No user session’ when going to Reports and/or My Orders.
How do I know if I’m using the right Java VM for receiving messages from the commodity application?
After logging in, my window minimizes and when I click on the window in my taskbar it does not open.
When I login my windows seem to run off the monitor.
The following two settings in your Internet Explorer browser control message prompts for Internet Explorer browsers. These settings are located under Tools / Internet Options / Advanced.
Disable script
debugging: Recommend
for users that this option be CHECKED as shown below (i.e. disabled).
This option is intended for developers that are trying to debug what
the script error when using debugging tools on their desktop. If
a user gets this script prompt they will be prompted on whether or not
they want to debug. If
user selects 'Yes' the user's desktop will take a long time in trying
to open an debug editor and will probably kick the user out of the system.
If user clicks 'No', then they will be able to continue with the application,
but there is a good chance the market positions in the grid may not be
updating.
Display a notification
about every script error: Recommend
for users that this option be CHECKED as shown below.
This Internet Explorer feature should bring up a popup that will alert
the user that there was an error and they can click 'OK' to continue.
Similar
to (1) above, if these errors occur, there is a good chance that market
positions may not be getting updated and users should let us know what
steps they were taking before it happen. Customer
Service will need to know what browser version and desktop environment
the user is running.
While logging in ensure you are not closing the Login Page's browser window. During login the Login Page and the newly opened market grid window are dependent on each other to successfully log a user in. If a user closes the login page before the login process is completed fully a user's authorization privileges are not fully provided to allow them access to the reports and their orders.
This problem might also occur in some desktops if their Tools / Internet Options / Advanced setting of ‘Reuse windows’ is CHECKED. ChemConnect recommends that the ‘Reuse Windows’ option is UNCHECKED.
One reason for getting logged off could be caused by clicking on a URL link in an email or other document. Within Internet Explorer under Tools / Internet Options / Advanced there is an option under Browsing that is labeled 'Reuse windows for launching shortcuts'. This box should be UNCHECKED. With this box unchecked, when you click on an internet-related link from an email, the ChemConnect Chalkboard Commodity Markets browser window will not be reused and log you out of the trading platform.
Periodically ChemConnect will provide new releases and/or patches to the Commodity Markets trading platform. For these releases a new market.dll may need to be downloaded. If you do not have Administrator privileges to your PC, then this file can not be downloaded successfully and the application will not be able to login you in successfully, thus the ‘Loading…’ message does not go away. To fix this, log in to your PC as an Administrator and then login to ChemConnect’s Chalkboard Commodity Market’s platform.
If you have Administrator rights and are still getting this problem then another potential problem is that you are not using Microsoft’s Java VM. For instance, if your script debugging is turned on you may be getting a message ‘No such method exists’ as shown below then the ‘Loading…’ message continues to display.
Also when trying to logout, you may be getting a ‘Save settings failed. Reason = Failed to get a_win_obj’ message as shown below:
This problem may be caused be using an incompatible Java VM such as Sun’s Java. Verify that Sun’s Java VM has been disabled and unchecked within Tools / Internet Options / Advanced options.
Your browser may be caching pages and not checking for the latest version of files. Please ensure your internet Settings are not set to ‘Never’ when checking for newer versions of stored pages. This Settings is accessible from Tools / Internet Options then by clicking ‘Settings…’ in the middle of the General tab.
Users must have Microsoft’s Java VM version 5.00.3802 or higher for the application to work properly. This is only a concern with IE5.5 users. To check the Java VM version, find msjava.dll within Windows Explorer(\windows\system directory for Windows 95/98 and \winnt\system32 for Windows NT/2000). Right click the file and go into Properties / Version tab. The build number is listed as the file version number.
NOTE: Sun Java VM’s are incompatible with ChemConnect’s Chalkboard Commodity Markets platform. Please ensure they are disabled and unchecked within your Tools / Internet Options / Advanced options as shown below.
The market grid uses an ActiveX control to display market positions in real-time. ActiveX controls reside on your hard disk with a DLL file extension and are registered to your Internet browser, therefore to get a fresh install you will need to unregister the appropriate DLL file. Then when you log into the commodity trading platform again, the site will download and register the latest DLL file for you. Here’s the steps necessary to unregister you current DLL file.
For Windows 98 users:
Open a DOS prompt window
Go to your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory using
the following command:
cd \windows\system32
NOTE: If you do not have a SYSTM32 directory then go to your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
directory.
Unregister the DLL using the following command:
unregsvr32 /u market.dll
For Windows NT / 2000 users:
Open a DOS prompt window
Go to your C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 directory using the
following command:
cd \winnt\system32
Unregister the DLL using the following command:
unregsvr32 /u market.dll
This may have been caused when you last logged off of the commodity platform and your windows were minimized. If you had your ‘Save settings on Exit’ and your ‘Restore windows on startup’ options enabled, then when you logged in the second time it minimizes your windows.
To open your windows, right click on the ChemConnect browser window in the taskbar area and select ‘Restore’ or ‘Maximize’, if available.
Each PC and it’s monitor(s) have different screen resolutions that it can display. If you user different PC configurations for one PC and/or use different PCs to log into your trading account, then it is highly possible that each configuration may have a different screen resolution and monitor size. If so, if you have logged into a PC with a higher resolution and saved the windows settings on the trading platform when you logged off, then when you log into another PC with a lower resolution and/or smaller screen size, then the browser window may run off of the second PC’s monitor. To resize the window for the second PC, use the window title bar to move the window to the left until you see the three window controls in the top righthand corner. Once you can see these you can click the middle control button to resize the window.
