Like other internet-based products, ChemConnect’s Chalkboard follows certain standards for keyboard usage, window structure, etc. This means the mouse, windows, and dialog boxes behave the same in Chalkboard as they do in other web applications.
If you are familiar with the way dialog boxes, windows stack, and buttons
generally work, you’ll feel right at home.
Login Message and News System Messages
Occasionally, ChemConnect’s Chalkboard will want to inform you of new traders
and companies trading on the system, industry events and customer service
contact information. In
order to provide you with this service, you will see a ChemConnect News
window pop up each time you log onto the Chalkboard trading application.
You may also access ChemConnect Messages for information about disputed
deals, deleted deals and any broadcast messages announced throughout the
day by clicking on the News
icon:

As a trader you may have the option of setting price bounds to any of the prices you enter for a bid, offer or multi-leg deal. This feature will check the price you entered against the current last completed deal for that day and for that instrument on the Market window. You can set the price bounds range by entering a percentage of your choice. In addition, you can activate a warning dialog box to inform you if no previous trades exist to check against.

Set Preferences for the Market Window
ChemConnect’s Chalkboard trading application allows you to customize your screen to suit your specific needs. You can customize the layout of the Market window, including the Market Depth and Columns you wish to view.
Please keep in mind that the Market
window is only as big as your monitor, so the more columns you wish to
view on your screen, the smaller the text and numbers become.
“Layout” refers to the open windows on your PC monitor and the way they
are organized. For
example, if you have the Market
and My Orders
window open and tiled, that’s your layout.
The Layout options allow you to:
Save the current layout and filters when you exit Chalkboard.
Automatically load your preferred layout and filters when you first start up your trading application.

The Market window shows any positions that are a one-sided position (bid or offer) in a bid/ask format. This feature allows each line item that matches the same parameters to be “stacked” on top of each other in a queue. The only price and volume showing on the Market window is the best price, depending on whether or not it is the highest bid or lowest offer.
Market depth is signified by a “+” or “-“indicator on the left of the Term column. You can view all of the positions by manually clicking on the “+” indicator, thus opening the queue. You do have the option of viewing all of the orders (open depth) or viewing only the highest bid or lowest offer posted (closed depth) upon logging onto Chalkboard.
The default Market Depth setting in the Market window is to close depth, unless the you have checked the Market Depth preferences option. With the Market Depth option checked, all positions in depth will be expanded when you login and once new depth is created even after you have been logged into Chalkboard.

At this time, you are able to further define the rows you wish to view on the Market window. You are able to choose whether or not you want to see the rows of orders that have no history showing on the Market window. For instance, if a completed deal is listed on the Market window but you have chosen not to view any of the Historical Columns (as explained above) then that deal will cannot be viewed on the Market window.
