John F. Beasley
Chairman
John Beasley has won industry-wide recognition for his visionary leadership and clear understanding of the technology and opportunities that e-commerce offers buyers and sellers of chemicals and plastics. As one of our founders, John has led the way as ChemConnect grew from a bulletin-board site to become the world's largest independent chemical and plastics e-commerce marketplace.
John has a strong business background in company development, acquisition, and integration. Before coming to ChemConnect, he served as Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions at First Physician Care in Atlanta, which he built from a start-up to a company with $100 million in annual revenue in just three years. Prior to that, John was a consultant with Ernst and Young in Atlanta, where he focused on the healthcare industry, handling bond offerings and physician practice valuations. From 1986 to 1990, John was CFO and Controller of Talbott Recovery Systems of Atlanta.
John holds a bachelor of arts degree in finance from Georgia State University.
Janet A. Hickey
Janet is Co-Managing Partner of the Sprout Group, a venture capital affiliate of Credit Suisse, since November 2003. She joined the Sprout Group in 1985. She previously served as Senior Vice President of Venture Investments for the General Electric Investment Corp., which she joined in 1970. Ms. Hickey held a variety of positions at GE, including Trustee of the General Electric Pension Trust and Director of Research and Manager-Pension Trust Equities. She was also a securities analyst at Eastman, Dillon, and Union Securities.
Janet attended Mount Holyoke College and the University of St. Andrews.
John K. Robinson
John Robinson has an extensive background of more than 30 years in the global chemicals industry, and an outstanding track record in strategic planning, executive management, and hands-on P&L experience. Before joining ChemConnect as its President and CEO, John held general management responsibilities for BP's $4 billion aromatics and derivates business portfolio, and led BP's foray into e-commerce.
As Group Vice President at BP, John was a member of the executive committee of the company's chemicals businesses, with responsibility for a portfolio operating on four continents. After the merger of BP and Amoco, John oversaw the successful integration of both companies' chemicals divisions. He also led BP's digital business activities for its chemicals stream, including e-procurement.
Before joining BP, John was Vice President, Catalysts and Technology, at Sohio Chemical (acquired by BP). In his many years in the chemical industry, John has also held positions with Shell Chemical, Akzo Chemical, and Gulf Oil Chemicals (now Chevron Chemical Company). He has worked in R&D, manufacturing, sales and marketing, strategic planning, business development, and general management.
John holds a Ph.D. degree in chemistry from Rice University and an M.B.A. degree in finance from the University of Houston.
David Tabors
David Tabors joined the ChemConnect Board of Directors following the acquisition of CheMatch in February 2002, where he served as board member since June 1999. He joined Battery Ventures in 1995 where he serves as a General Partner focused on software and e-commerce investments. In addition to ChemConnect, he also serves on the boards of BladeLogic, Excelergy Corporation, Dirig Software, and MCA Solutions. His prior investments include Eggrock Partners (acquired by Breakaway Solutions), Altra Energy Technologies (acquired by Caminus), and Vastera (Nasdaq: VAST). From 1993 to 1995, he was a Senior Associate with Cambridge Associates, a financial consulting firm, where he was responsible for tracking the venture capital industry and evaluating venture capital firms.
David holds a bachelors degree in engineering, with honors, from Dartmouth College.
